In participation with the National Small Business Week, the Greater Sanford Regional Chamber of Commerce chose to begin an annual award ceremony to celebrate local small business that are making an impact in our community.
Look Local is honored to be the recipient of the 2015 Small Business of the Year Award.
With over 75 local companies nominated as potential recipients of the awards, we are grateful and humbled to have been selected, by an independent panel of judges, as the recipient. In addition to supplying a 3 year history of profit/loss statements to prove steady company growth, judging was based on the nominee’s responses to the following:
• Describe your product/service.
• How does your product/service fit a niche not being addressed by competitors?
• What challenges were overcome to develop or grow the business?
• Describe a problem faced in your business and what was done to resolve it.
• Describe your company philosophy on community involvement.
• List specific contributions of money, time or resources to community and charities.
• List community, business or charitable leadership positions you hold.
• Describe your future plans for the business.
What this Award means to us:
At Look Local, we are certainly proud of the accomplishments and level of growth we have achieved over the past 5 years. As the owners/operators of the business, we are constantly striving for growth from a financial, community and personal standpoint.
To have these triumphs be recognized by our community leaders, especially considering the high caliber of fellow business nominees, is extraordinarily gratifying.
In addition, there is no doubt that winning an award of this level enhances our credibility to potential Look Local advertisers who may not yet be familiar with our company as a high quality, affordable print advertising option in Central Florida.
So, who else won?
This inaugural year also included awards for the following categories:
Home Based Business: Steam King Professional Floor Care
Family-Owned Business: Maple Street, Inc.
Entrepreneur of the Year: Next Horizon
Not for Profit: The Christian Sharing Center
SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR: LOOK LOCAL
I would also like to take a moment to express my appreciation for the Sanford Chamber and their capability to execute highly successful events, such as the award ceremony held on May 20th.
Upon entering the venue, guests were greeted with beautiful live music and a delicious breakfast buffet. Details such as prayer, pledge of allegiance, seating arrangements, table coverings and centerpieces were carefully considered. The Q&A format between the guest speaker and chamber executive was relevant and entertaining and the hosts were lively and well-spoken. Lastly, numerous elected officials and city representatives showed their support by attending this fantastic event.
